OSA PENINSULA · COSTA RICA
Giving Osa’s wildlife
a second chance.
Rescue ◆ Rehabilitate ◆ Rewild
OUR MISSION
A new wildlife rescue centre in one of the most biologically intense places on Earth.
Yaba Chic Wildlife Conservation was established in 2025 to rescue, rehabilitate and rewild injured, orphaned or confiscated wild animals from the Osa region.
Costa Rica’s wildlife is unimaginably magical, but like wildlife everywhere it is under threat. Demand for wildlife rescue in the region is greater than existing organisations can cope with, with no equivalent facilities for many miles.
Our aim is simple: to give every animal the best possible chance to return to the wild.

THE YABA CHIC CLINIC
Built for wildlife. Surrounded by wild forest.
Sandy oversaw the development of Yaba Chic’s purpose-built veterinary clinic and facilities, designed to care for the extraordinary range of native wildlife found in the Osa — from jaguars and ocelots to macaws and anteaters.
The centre is equipped for rescue, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, with the goal of returning animals to their natural habitat wherever possible.

RESCUE · REHABILITATION · RELEASE
A place to recover — with the wild just beyond.
Secure treatment and rehabilitation spaces allow animals to recover while remaining in the forest environment that, wherever possible, they will return to.

MEET SANDY
Led by Sandy Quirós
Yaba Chic is led by Sandy Quirós, an experienced Costa Rican wildlife veterinarian who previously worked at Las Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in southern Costa Rica.
Her experience caring for Costa Rica’s native wildlife underpins the centre’s approach: expert veterinary care, careful rehabilitation and release whenever an animal can safely return to the wild.
The photograph shows Sandy during her previous wildlife veterinary work and does not depict a Yaba Chic patient.

THE GOLFO DULCE
Where two hemispheres meet
Yaba Chic lies within a wider network of protected tropical forest on the edge of the Golfo Dulce — the remarkable “Sweet Gulf”, visited by humpback whales from both Northern and Southern Hemisphere populations to breed and raise their calves.
THE OSA
An extraordinary place to protect.
The Osa Peninsula holds an exceptional concentration of tropical life: rainforest, rivers, mangroves and the rich waters of the Golfo Dulce support an extraordinary variety of species.
Yaba Chic’s work begins with individual animals, but its purpose belongs to that larger landscape — helping wildlife recover and return to the forests in which it belongs.
FROM THE FIELD
Sandy’s Updates
A personal diary from Yaba Chic’s veterinarian — sharing new arrivals, rehabilitation progress, releases, short videos and observations from the Osa as the centre’s story unfolds.
Coming Soon
THE STORY IS JUST BEGINNING
Yaba Chic has only just received its licence. Sandy’s first updates will appear here as the centre begins receiving wildlife.
